What the extension does

Transcript Forge reads the active YouTube video URL, video title, creator name, available caption metadata, and caption text only to generate transcript exports requested by the user.

Transcript content

Transcript content is processed locally in the browser for copying, downloading, Obsidian-ready Markdown export, batch export, and print/PDF views. Transcript Forge does not upload transcript content to the license service.

License keys

If Pro license validation is enabled, the license key entered by the user and an anonymous browser install ID may be sent to the configured license validation service to confirm access and enforce activation limits.

Local storage

The extension may store user preferences, local Pro activation state, the license key, and the anonymous browser install ID in Chrome extension storage on the user's device.

Aggregate product metrics

Transcript Forge records aggregate counts of clicks on the landing page's Chrome Web Store and Pro purchase buttons. When a Pro license is first activated on a browser installation, the license service also records an aggregate activation count with the extension version. These measurements do not include YouTube URLs, video IDs, transcript content, license keys, names, or email addresses, and the landing page does not use analytics cookies.

Advertising and sale of data

Transcript Forge does not sell user data and does not use transcript content for personalized advertising.
